Get Fit - Midterm Reflection

We are halfway through the semester; and I think My fitness has improved by so much and I am so happy that it is improving a lot from the past 2 years at high school. I think this year especially my body and fitness level have changed a lot by getting out of my comfort zone and being able to work harder than I normally do on fitness days. I find that I work much much harder on fitness days. I have also noticed that I don't mind doing fitness with every class in the pe block; but I really like doing fitness and regular pe with my class of girls, guess it's just a comfort thing, but I dont mind doing it with other blocks as well though. I find that I worked way harder than last year and it paid off because i've noticed a change in my body and so has my mom and my friends. Sometimes I do have those days where I don't feel like giving my 110% on my fitness but the motivation I get from my pe teacher and my friends, really helps. I remember on the extended beep test if it wasn't for my friends and pe teacher I wouldn't have made it up to 20 the very last beep of the test. I hope to end the semester with being happy with myself my fitness overall.

Grade: B
Percentage: 85%

Get Fit Fencing

My first impressions on hearing the opportunity to fence in our class was amazing I thought it would be a fun and unique experience and thought it would be very hard though also. Those feelings didn't change because the feelings I had in the beginning stayed the same, fencing is hard and fun but takes a lot of effort to and balance and you have to be on your feet a lot. I have never tried fencing before; I'm usually hesitatant about trying new things but I actually found that trying new things is very cool and unique once you try it and you shouldn't doubt it. I did miss one day of fencing but when I was there I enjoyed fencing againest my friends and learning new techniques and finding my balance. I wouldn't change anything because everything went perfectly and was a lot of fun. Yes I did I put my best effort forth because I enjoyed it so much that I fenced at the best of my abilities and did not slack off at all. I learned that fencing is as hard as it looks and is not as hard learning it. You have to be wearing proper gear other wise you'll be stabbed in the chest or stomach. I also learned that the stick to use it is dangerpous and you should be careful.

Update -October 8th 2013

From the beginning of September when we started doing fitness; my fitness increased a lot. From running the hill run to doing beep tests and other activities. I in the starting really did not get into it, I do admit it but know I’m very comfortable and happy to do fitness now than the last years in the past. I hope to keep being healthy and work out as much as I can. I’ve actually started doing at home workouts because I have no time to actually go to a gym or go running around the block. The jeans that fit me snugly were looser than ever. It actually paid off; I’m surprised because last year I didn’t notice much difference in my body. So I know now if you really put your energy and effort in working out, it pays of so much you’ll be really happy. I worked really hard on the loco motive thing because I just felt really energetic that day. Beep tests are not really my thing so I just always do way worse on them. The Panorama School of Dance was really fun even though I only came the second day, but it was a really good experience for me. What motivates me to participate is if I physically notice a change in my body, when I do notice a change I work really hard the next fitness time.

Why I chose GetFit

Why I chose Getfit was because I wanted to increase my fitness level and to be better at getting fit and I also chose it because I want to literally be in shape and feel more confident about myself. I also really like the idea of having just girls while doing PE it puts me in a more comfortable place and also all the field trips we go to. Hopefully I achieve of having a awesome fitness level by the end of the semester and gain more confidence in myself, and look back and be like I achieved my goal that I made in PE last year or something along those lines. I hope to learn and accomplish a lot in this class before the semester ends really quickly and to just have fun.

June 3rd 2013

My attendance is good but I have a lot of dentists appointment which are mostly on fridays which kind of holds me back on the fitness days. Whenever i am here though I'm always punctual and I'm not late. I always have my gym strip as well. My fitness has improved a lot though on the beep test I used to be at about a 5 and recently I stopped at 6'8 which is awesome to me, because I improved there a lot and also before I never did any other activities outside of school but now I go on morning runs on the weekend and if I have time during the week I go to the nearest park and run laps. I also took the numbers of the stuff we did in the small gym recently; this was my results: Push-up=4, Plank=35.4 seconds, Sit and reach=1 set, Balance Board=15, Jump=standing:195 jumping:220, T-test= 18 seconds. I think recently I've been motivated a lot by inspirational quotes I've seen on the internet lately. I don't really have major barriers that keep me limited to a active style. Sometimes it just depends on the mood and motivation sometimes not always though. It's kind of hard giving yourself a grade but I would say I'm still at a C+ because I don't think I increased my fitness level to that extent where it should be a B. But I'm still trying to accomplish that B though, and I hope to soon.

Anisah Iqbal PE 9 Reflection

1) During PE this year, how have you shown you are prepared and willing to participate
in a variety of activities?

Answer:  I have shown by always bringing gym strip also by just enjoying whatever we're doing in PE and just have fun.

2) On what days have you participated to your best effort and
why?

Answer: On some fitness days because I feel that if you give your best effort in something that you really don't want to do, you get the best results and end up doing even better next, well that's what I think. And to be honest some days I don't give it my all effort because those days I didn't push myself to actually do it.

3)What days have been a struggle for you and why?

Answer: When we do really tiring fitness days for example like the circuit or beep test because for me I find that I get tired really fast and I end up stopping and giving up which I know I shouldn't but I do.
 4) How do you contribute to the overall success of the class?

Answer: I always help out the grade 8's if their having troubles with something and my peers as well  and also having a positive mind.

5) What kind of attitude do you bring and why?

Answer: I try always to bring my positive attitude because I always tell myself that PE is actually doing me a favour and helping me be fit and healthy, and there may be a day when schools won't offer PE and then your going to be like yeah I should have took PE in High school, so I don't want to regret that

6) How do you interact with other students in our class?

Answer: Very friendly and I have a lot of great peers and best friends in my class and also in the same PE block but different teachers.

7) Describe your participation during fitness days - have you been able to push yourself
physically?

Answer: Yes, I always try to push myself to doing more than I'm capable of, and even though I stop I still try to keep trying on getting myself to do better and better.

8) What types of fitness activities do you enjoy the most?

Answer: The obstacle course and the 25 minute run without restrictions or doing it with your friends in a line sort of thing.

9) What fitness goals do you have for the rest of the year?

Answer: Try to stay fit, and keep healthy as much as I can and make time for PE outside of school.

10) What does "leadership" mean to you?  Who are the best leaders in our class - why?

Answer: Leadership to me means taking responsibilities and taking action as instructed, In my class I think everyone is taking leadership because every time I go to PE everyone is taking responsibilities, and taking action in PE.

11) What improvements would you like to make in PE by the end of the year?  What are
you the most proud of so far?

Answer: One change I have is taking a vote from the students on what to do on fitness days, I think then most people will be prepared and actually have fun and enjoy fitness days than to not have fun.

12) Finally, what letter grade A, B, C+, C, C- (gulp) best represents the effort you just described?

Answer: C+, because I do try my best in PE but I don't do PE outside of school so I think a C+ is a good mark for me
